Day 2 .....

Our morning began with our happy 3rd team member coming into our bedroom to announce her arrival from Uganda !  We were excited to see her and hear how God`s hand protected on the long 13 hour bus ride in order to reach Nairobi. Stories were exchanged over a breakfast of fried eggs, toast and Kenyan tea.

We traveled through the city in crazy traffic. It is like a hundred million ants all bustling to and fro with people walking and crossing the streets while vendors stand in the middle of traffic selling wares. I won`t be a back seat driver any more with my husband ! Promise ~

What an incredible day!!!! We bumped into Sabina's uncle & as we were talking he shared that he owns & runs a school for girls on the outskirts of Nairobi. We then shared our vision for a girls home...and before we knew it he was offering to give us a plot, took us to visit said plot--and girls school--and pledged to do whatever he can to help our vision become a reality! GLORY!!! God is AMAZING! Please pray and praise the Lord with us! ♥ More details to come!!

One of the highlights of my day was stopping in to see a girl`s school. Being a teacher I was full of emotions.
The guard opened the gate to let us enter. All these little precious faces greeted us !  They were all dressed in plaid jumpers with white long sleeved blouses. A cute bow tie around the collar. Keep in mind the temp was in the 80`s and they were wearing pull-over sweaters on top !! A few small ones even had winter type hats on. They looked and looked at us for several minutes but quickly warmed up and were holding our hands before long. I noticed someone touching the back of my hair. I turned around and they were giggling and fascinated with my long soft hair. I put my head down and allowed them to stroke my hair and they loved it !
We had brought candy as a special treat for them. We toured their classrooms which were bare compared to what I have ever had in my rooms while teaching. They found their seats and all began to sing a sweet song of our Mighty God. It was so precious and I will never forget that moment ~ Thank you God for giving me that small blessing today because you know my tender heart ~

Our final stop of the day was at an open air farmers market. Pulling in on a dirt road full of holes. There was a huge garbage area full of rotting vegetables and fruits that had been tossed away. People were scouring through to find anything they could to eat !  We entered the market to see the most delicious looking produce ever. What a sight ~ Burlap bags kept the sun out on all sides of the vendors stands. The prices were very inexpensive. 5 huge avocados were 1.00..along with a bag of big carrots....50 cents. The sellers were just lingering all around waiting for customers. Some were even laying down.

What an exhausting day but so fulfilling. God is faithful and already has shown His mercy and loving kindness to us. We enjoyed a tasty dinner of a new version of egg rolls made by our dear Luz. Many laughs and tears were shared together tonight. Looking forward to our day tomorrow as we prepare to go to the slums. Please keep us in your prayers.

Hugs,
